App screens
Browse a list as a tab: layouts, search, filters, detail screens.
An app screen shows one of your lists as a tab customers can browse, with a detail screen for each record.
Add a screen
On the app's Data tab, open a list and switch on Show in the app. Then choose:
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Tab name | What the tab is called ("Classes"). |
| Look | Rows, Cards (one per row, with a picture) or Grid (two per row). |
| Title | The field shown as each record's title. |
| Subtitle | A second line, like a time or a price. |
| Picture | The field with each record's picture link. |
| Filter by | A field customers filter with chips, like a level, a day or a teacher. |
An app can have up to 4 tabs, lists and dashboards together. Below the settings you can hide records, add badges, show a detail field only on some records, or show the tab only to signed-in customers: see Screens that change with the data. For counts and totals, add a dashboard screen. On a live app, the new tab reaches customers once you Publish changes; the form's page shows the button above every tab.
What customers can do
- Search: a search box appears on longer lists (more than 8 records). It looks through every field's value.
- Filter: chips for each value of the filter field, with All to clear.
- Show more: lists load 30 records at a time.
- Open a record: its detail screen shows every field: links open, emails and phone numbers tap to contact, pictures show in full.
- Follow links: a linked record (a class's teacher) opens its own screen, and that screen lists the records linking to it. See Linked lists.
- Add their own, when the list takes customer entries.
Empty, loading and sign-in states
Screens show placeholders while loading, "Nothing here yet" when a list is empty, "Nothing matches" with Clear search when a search finds nothing, and a Sign in button on lists for signed-in customers.
Good to know
- The builder's preview shows your real records before you publish.
- Searching and filtering happen on the server, so they stay fast as lists grow.
